Choosing a name for your business is one of the hardest things to do I think. You spend many hours deciding if it’s the right choice and then spend just as many hours thinking that it’s the wrong choice!
In my case I knew I wanted to include my name Rosemary, and I knew I wanted my business name to start with a letter somewhere near the beginning of the alphabet …don’t ask me why?! 🙂
One day playing around with initials of members of the family I came up with Biba, and remembering the iconic brand name from the 70s it seemed perfect, and that is how Biba & Rose was born.
A few years later a major department store relaunched the Biba fashion label, but luckily that didn’t cause a problem as we were selling very different things.
Now many years later, I am still surprised when people ring up asking for Biba and Rose …pronouncing it Bibba as if it’s got two Bs in the middle, rather than Biba (pronounced like Beeba).
…so even now I still wonder if I chose the right name, but whatever I think it’s not going anywhere!
