Cotswold Show is held each year in Cirencester Park, the home of Earl and Countess Bathurst. This beautiful setting is on the outskirts of the market town of Cirencester and not far from home for me …which is one of the reasons that I enjoy it so much!
Setting up at any show can be a challenge, as you don’t always know what to expect until you arrive and Cotswold Show was no exception. I arrived to find that I was on a corner plot, so all my plans had to change to allow for the fact that I would be trading from two sides. That being said I could not have been in a better position!
I was located close to the main arena where there was literally something going on the whole time, so there was always something to see. This year was the first time I had seen Johnathon Marshall with his ‘The Black Stallion’, which was absolutely amazing and brought tears to my eyes.
It can be extremely hard work putting up your own marquee and without the rest of ‘my team’ I certainly couldn’t manage it. When I’m still dismantling my stand hours after the public have left, I have to remind myself that attending shows, meeting new customers face to face and seeing regular customers returning each year, definitely makes it worthwhile.
