2007 – 2017
Exactly 10 years ago today I designed and made my first piece of jewellery. It was a ‘floating’ necklace with glass beads in different shades of purple. It proved to be one of my most popular designs!
Those glass beads have since been replaced with freshwater pearls. Once I’d discovered that I could still make affordable jewellery using beautiful freshwater pearls there was no going back.
I now specialise in freshwater pearl and silver jewellery. The quality of the pearls is really important to me, so I spend a lot of time choosing the best freshwater pearls with the best lustre (shine). I always use sterling silver, not plated and also make a few pieces using gold vermeil which is gold bonded onto sterling silver, so an economical alternative to solid gold.
Much of the jewellery I design is quite contemporary, perfect for everyday wear. Biba & Rose jewellery can be worn just as easily with a pair of jeans as a wedding dress or ballgown.
I wonder where the next 10 years will take me?
